Learning Journey: Teamwork

The “Teamwork” learning journey supports business departments, project teams, or entire workforces in their day-to-day communication and capacity for action. For a business to be successful in the markets, all employees are expected to demonstrate strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate: support colleagues, treat mistakes as a shared responsibility, address conflicts as constructively as possible and do it all while taking pleasure in their work.

This challenge applies to the entire workforce, from back-office staff to research and development, production, sales, logistics, and facility management.

Collaborative teamwork can only be improved through daily reflection and practice involving all participants. Accordingly, the “Teamwork” learning journey addresses fundamental topics of collaborative teamwork, even for target groups that are just beginning to engage in a conscious and objective-oriented development of communication and cooperation. The requirements and style are designed to be accessible. In this way, the learning journey provides simple training in helpful soft skills for everyday team life and marks the entry point into modern corporate cultures. (For individuals with prior experience in this training area, we recommend the “New Work Mindset” learning journey).

The optional “Team@work” add-on addresses the specific challenges of digital collaboration. Since many teams are connected remotely, a specific culture and set of practices are needed to ensure their success as a team. Whether it’s video conferencing or the professional use of collaboration tools, remote teamwork needs to be cultivated.

What does the learning journey include?

In the Teamwork learning journey, we cover the following topics:

  • Just listen

  • Converse with one another

  • Appreciate differences

  • Encourage ideas

  • Have fun

  • Conflict resolution

  • Learn from mistakes

  • Moving forward

A meeting with the learning journey facilitator is scheduled at the start and end of the learning journey, as well as after four sessions.

The comprehensive workbook contains concise, sequential learning sessions designed to develop teamwork. After an introduction by a certified learning journey facilitator, participants work in small, self-organized groups of 4–6 people on the workbook and topics. Multiple learning groups can run simultaneously. Participants read the material themselves or have the prompts and tasks read aloud by a digital assistant. The effectiveness for everyday practice arises from the systematic linking of prompt-reflection-exercise-transfer-feedback, repeated throughout several weeks. The facilitator supports implementation with weekly motivational emails and interactive interim meetings for the entire learning group. Furthermore, the dynamics of the learning groups foster a sense of commitment, provide highly appreciated benefits in terms of networking, and enable the crucial person-to-person feedback. As a result, this training aligns particularly well with current insights in learning psychology and systematically validates the still-emerging “Learning Circles” format for professional development.
